Check Dams and Causeway Inaugurated to Aid Gudiyatham Residents
Imagine the river sometimes floods, making it hard to get around.
To fix this, they built two special walls called check dams and a bridge called a causeway.
The check dams are like small walls that hold back water, helping farmers water their crops and giving people water to drink.
The causeway is a bridge with big openings to let flood water pass quickly, so it doesn't get blocked.
Now, people in nearby villages can easily get to important towns without taking long detours.
They also built a nice walking path to enjoy the river view.
Two check dams and a causeway were inaugurated across the Kaundinya river in Gudiyatham.
The check dams cost ₹25 crore and will help irrigate 560 hectares of farmland and recharge 530 farmwells.
The causeway cost ₹8.41 crore and connects Thalayatham with Sunnabupettai village.
The causeway has 10 vents and is designed to discharge 58,000 cusecs of floodwater.
A tiled walking track was also inaugurated, costing ₹2.91 crore.
