Nirmohi Akhara backs late trustee's son for Ram temple trust

The Nirmohi Akhara chief, Dinendra Das, has proposed that the son of a late trustee, Yatindra Mohan Pratap Mishra, should be appointed to one of the three vacant positions in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.

The trust is meeting to discuss this appointment, as well as the management of the Ram temple and financial transparency following a donation embezzlement scandal.

Das emphasized that the temple's rituals should strictly follow the Vaishnav-Ramanandi tradition.

There have been objections to adopting non-Ramanandi traditions.

The trust is also reviewing measures taken after the alleged embezzlement of devotees' offerings, which led to the resignations of two trustees and the death of another.

Eight people have been arrested, and valuables have been recovered.
