Bollywood's Shelved Ramayana Attempts Precede Ranbir Kapoor and Yash Epic
Ramayana is a very old and famous Indian story about Prince Rama, who fought a demon king to save his wife Sita.
Some very famous actors, Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, are making a big movie about this story.
The movie is being directed by Nitesh Tiwari.
It will be released in two parts.
People say the two movies together cost about 4,000 crore rupees, which is a huge amount of money.
This makes it one of the biggest movie projects in Bollywood, India's Hindi film industry.
Earlier, two other filmmakers, Rajkumar Santoshi and Sohail Khan, also tried to make Ramayana movies.
But those movies never came out.
That is why everyone is excited about this new attempt.
Ranbir Kapoor and Yash's Ramayana is one of Bollywood's most ambitious projects, helmed by Nitesh Tiwari.
The mythological epic's two installments are reportedly mounted on a Rs 4,000 crore budget.
This reportedly isn't the first time the Hindi film industry set out to make a mythological epic.
Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi had apparently attempted a Ramayana film that got shelved.
Sohail Khan had apparently also attempted a Ramayana film that never saw the light of day.
