India Approves 22 Electronics Component PLI Proposals
The Indian government has approved 22 new plans for making important parts for electronics.
These plans will bring in a lot of money (Rs 41,863 crore) and create many jobs (33,791).
Big companies like Dixon, Samsung, Foxconn, and Apple are involved.
They will make things like computer parts, batteries, and camera modules.
The government wants to make sure these factories are all over India, not just in one place.
This will help India make more electronics at home instead of buying them from other countries.
Some companies will even start making advanced chips in 2026.
The government hopes this will help India become better at making electronics.
The government has also given the industry six weeks to provide details on their manufacturing requirements under the Scheme.
There has been a significant increase in domestic capability, reducing imports in items like printed circuit boards (PCBs), Li-ion cells, connectors, camera and display modules, and creating export capability in high precision mobile enclosures.
India aims to be among the top four semiconductor manufacturing nations by 2032 and the best by 2035.
The Ministry of Electronics and IT approved 22 new proposals under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS).
Projected investment is Rs 41,863 crore with a production target of Rs 2,58,152 crore.
Approved companies include Dixon Technologies, Samsung Display, Foxconn, Hindalco Industries, Tata Electronics, CG Electronics, Micron, Kaynes, BPL, Wipro Hydraulics, Motherson Electronics, ATL Battery Technology, and Apple's anchor vendors.
The proposals cover 11 target segment products with cross-sectoral applications in mobile, telecom, and automotive industries.
Projects are spread across 8 states, aiming to create 33,791 direct employment opportunities.
