Iran Says Hormuz Will Stay Closed Until Conditions Are Met

Iran says the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed for now.

The country’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, announced this on September 20, 2026.

He said Iran has certain conditions that must be met first.

He also said the United States must carry out its commitments.

Iran says its rights must be recognized as well.

Qalibaf said Iran has sent its demands through intermediaries.

He said Iran will use military force to defend itself when needed.

He also said Iran will use diplomacy when it believes the time is right.

He said talks cannot return to normal until these issues are resolved.
