Mango Growers Seek Support as Production and Exports Decline

Mango Growers Seek Support as Production and Exports Decline

Mango farmers in Maharashtra say they are earning less this year.

They estimate that the mango harvest has fallen by 15-20 per cent.

Some exports have also become harder because of geopolitical tensions.

About half of Maharashtra’s mango exports usually go to Middle Eastern countries.

Even so, exports worth more than ₹350 crore were recorded this year.

Farmers also face high growing costs and problems linked to climate change.

They want better places and systems to sell their mangoes.

A conference in Mumbai discussed government help, bank schemes and insurance for exports.
