Red gram procurement centres to open from January 2
The state government will open centres to buy red gram from farmers starting January 2.
This is good news for farmers because the government will pay a fair price, called the minimum support price (MSP), which is higher than what they were getting in the market.
The government has allowed buying 1,16,690 metric tonnes of red gram, along with some green and black gram.
Farmers need to register at their nearest Rythu Seva Kendram to sell their produce.
The biggest area for red gram farming is in Anantapur district.
This will help farmers get better money for their hard work.
Red gram procurement centres will open across the state from January 2.
The Central government's price support scheme allows procurement of red, green, and black gram.
MSP for red gram is fixed at Rs 8,000 per quintal, higher than current market prices.
Approximately 1,16,690 metric tonnes of red gram will be procured.
Farmers must register at their nearest Rythu Seva Kendram to sell their produce under the scheme.
