Dharmendra Pradhan Seeks Zoo Upgrade in Sambalpur
Imagine a small zoo in Sambalpur that's been around since 1980.
It started as a small place, but now people want to make it bigger and better.
A government official is asking for this upgrade.
The zoo is already doing good things, like taking care of animals and letting them move to better places.
If the zoo is upgraded, it will be able to do even more to help animals and teach people about them.
The zoo wants to add more land to make it even better, too.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan requested the upgrade of Sambalpur Zoo.
The zoo began in 1980 and evolved from a deer park.
The zoo evaluation committee recommended upgradation in 2022.
Additional land (18-20 hectares) will be added, part of Motijharan Reserve Forest.
The Central Zoo Authority (CZA) has approved animal exchange programs with Nandankanan zoo.
