MP Evaded Arrest by Living in Parliament
A long time ago, there was an MP named Mani Ram Bagri.
He was a very active and sometimes disruptive member of the Parliament.
In 1964, he got into trouble for participating in protests and the police wanted to arrest him.
To avoid arrest, he asked the Speaker of the Lok Sabha for protection.
The Speaker allowed him to stay on the Parliament grounds but not inside the building after 7 pm.
So, Bagri set up a tent on the lawns of Parliament and stayed there for a night.
This was a big deal because it was the first time an MP stayed overnight in Parliament to avoid arrest.
