Cuba marks centenary of Fidel Castro's birth amid economic crisis

Cuba just celebrated the 100th birthday of a very famous leader named Fidel Castro.

He was born on August 13, 1926, and led the Cuban revolution many years ago.

Today, Cuba is going through a very hard time.

The United States put rules in place that stop Cuba from getting oil easily.

Because of this, parts of Cuba sometimes have no electricity for more than 20 hours a day.

Cuba's leaders are trying new ideas, like letting private businesses grow, to fix the problems.

Some people in Cuba miss Fidel Castro and think he would have known what to do.

Others think the government uses his memory just to make people feel hopeful.

A big meeting with people from over 60 countries was held to remember him.

The celebration shows how important Castro still is to Cuba today.
