BJP MLA Seeks Ban on POP Ganesha Idols
A politician named S. Suresh Kumar from the BJP party in Bengaluru wrote a letter to the Urban Development Minister.
He asked for strict rules against using Ganesha idols made of Plaster of Paris (POP) for the upcoming Ganesh festival.
He said these idols pollute lakes and water bodies when people immerse them.
The politician also mentioned that the Prime Minister had asked people to use eco-friendly idols.
He was upset because the city authority didn't respond to his earlier letters.
He wants the government to stop making, selling, and using POP idols to keep the festival environmentally friendly.
BJP MLA S. Suresh Kumar wrote to Urban Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda seeking a ban on POP Ganesha idols.
POP idols are said to pollute lakes and water bodies during immersion.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had encouraged the use of eco-friendly Ganesha idols in a recent 'Mann Ki Baat' address.
The MLA criticized the Greater Bengaluru Authority for not responding to his earlier letters on the issue.
He urged the minister to prohibit the manufacture, sale, and use of POP idols to protect the environment.
