Anil Ambani Summoned Again by ED in ₹2,929-Crore RCom Bank Fraud Case
Anil Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Group, has been asked to talk to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) again on November 14.
This is about a case where RCom, one of his old companies, is accused of not paying back a large bank loan of about ₹2,929 crore.
The ED is investigating if any money was laundered in this case.
The ED and another agency, the CBI, are looking into financial problems and money movements totaling over ₹17,000 crore related to various Ambani group companies.
Because of these investigations, the ED has taken control of assets worth ₹7,500 crore, which include Anil Ambani's home.
Anil Ambani had already spoken to the ED for about 10 hours in August.
His team has said he was a non-executive director at the time of the RCom loan issue and wasn't involved in the company's daily decisions.
Anil Ambani summoned by the ED for a second round of questioning on November 14 regarding an alleged ₹2,929-crore bank fraud case involving Reliance Communications (RCom) and SBI.
The investigation falls under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), with Ambani previously questioned for nearly 10 hours in August.
The CBI's FIR stems from an SBI complaint, alleging RCom had over ₹40,000 crore in debt, with SBI alone suffering a ₹2,929.05 crore loss as per 2018 figures.
The ED's wider probe includes alleged financial irregularities and loan diversions totaling over ₹17,000 crore by various Reliance Group entities.
Assets worth ₹7,500 crore, including Ambani's Mumbai residence, have been provisionally attached by the ED as part of the investigation.
