Volunteers Transform Bengaluru Lake with Fruit-Bearing Trees
Some people in Bengaluru wanted to make a lake better for birds and the community.
They planted many fruit trees around the lake.
These volunteers worked hard to keep the young trees alive, even when it was very hot and they didn't have much money.
They brought water in cans and buckets!
Now, the trees are grown up and have fruits like guava and custard apples that the birds and people can enjoy.
The volunteers also protected the trees from animals and people who might harm them.
The lake is now a happier place with lots of yummy fruits!
Volunteers planted over 1,000 fruit tree saplings at Gangashetty Lake.
Around 500 trees have matured and bear fruit.
Volunteers faced challenges like lack of funding and scorching summers.
They carried water from their homes to water the saplings.
The lake now has trees like custard apple, black plum, and guava.
