Boeing 747: The Jumbo Jet That Transformed Aviation

The Boeing 747 is a very large passenger airplane.

People often call it the “Queen of the Skies.”

It first flew in 1969.

The plane helped make long-distance air travel possible for many more people.

It was the first aircraft widely called a jumbo jet.

Airlines eventually purchased more than 1,574 of them.

Production continued for more than 50 years.

The last Boeing 747 was delivered in January 2023.
