Jharkhand Police Report: Over 10,000 Maoists Arrested, 235 Killed in 25 Years
Imagine a state in India called Jharkhand that has been dealing with a group called Maoists for a very long time, like 25 years!
The police there have been working hard to keep everyone safe.
They shared some big numbers: over 10,000 Maoists were arrested, which means they were caught.
Sadly, some Maoists and some police officers lost their lives in the fights.
But also, many Maoists decided to stop fighting and surrendered.
The police also found a lot of dangerous weapons.
The good news is that fewer areas in Jharkhand are now troubled by Maoists.
Besides fighting Maoists, the police are also catching people who commit crimes on the internet, like stealing information from computers.
Over 10,769 Maoists arrested, 235 killed, and 324 surrendered in Jharkhand from 2001 to September 2023.
Since 2001, 1,471 firearms, including 710 looted from police, have been recovered.
During the same period, 555 security personnel (408 state, 147 central) were killed fighting Maoists.
Currently, only four districts in Jharkhand are affected by Maoists, with Chaibasa being the most impacted.
In the last nine months of 2023, 266 Maoists were arrested, 32 killed, 30 surrendered, and 37 bunkers destroyed.
