Google Tests Hands-Free Emergency SOS Feature for Android Phones

Google Tests Hands-Free Emergency SOS Feature for Android Phones

Google may add a way to call for emergency help without touching a phone.

Today, Android Emergency SOS can be started by pressing the power button five times.

The new feature could start when someone says “Help” three times.

The phone may then check its location, record video, and make an emergency call.

A person could say “cancel” to stop the alert.

They could say “yes” to confirm it.

The article says reports differ about exactly who would be contacted.

The feature was found in unfinished app code, so Google could change it or never release it.

It might work on some Android phones, while Samsung phones may use Samsung’s own SOS system.
