Mumbai's BMC Earns Big from Racecourse Land Rentals
The Mumbai government, called BMC, took over a big piece of land at the racecourse.
They've made about 7.5 crore rupees by renting it out for concerts and events, like Lollapalooza India and a Guns N' Roses concert.
The government plans to turn the land into a park, similar to Central Park in New York, with green spaces and paths.
They're also thinking about having events there.
The company Reliance might help build the park, and it will include a pedestrian subway to the coastal road.
The racecourse still has some land that it leases from the government.
BMC took over 120 acres of the Mahalaxmi Racecourse land in July 2024.
The BMC has earned Rs 7.5 crore by renting out the land for events.
Events include Lollapalooza India, Guns N' Roses concert, and equestrian events.
The land will be developed into a public park and events space.
Reliance Industries Ltd may develop the land, connecting it to the coastal road.
