Thailand and Cambodia Sign Ceasefire
Thailand and Cambodia have been fighting near their border for weeks.
They had a meeting and agreed to stop fighting starting from noon on December 27, 2025.
Both countries promised not to attack each other's homes, buildings, or soldiers.
Even though they agreed to stop fighting, Cambodia said Thailand dropped bombs using fighter jets just hours after their meeting.
Other countries like Malaysia and the United States helped them try to make peace before.
The fighting started again in late July, and they had a short break in the fighting after five days, but it didn't last long.
Thailand and Cambodia signed a ceasefire agreement on December 27, 2025, to end weeks of deadly border clashes.
The ceasefire is effective from 12:00 hours noon (local time) and involves all types of weapons, including attacks on civilians and military objectives.
Cambodia reported that Thailand struck a site in Banteay Meanchey province with F-16 fighter jets just hours after the ceasefire agreement.
Long-running territorial disputes along the border escalated into open fighting in late July, with mediation efforts led by Malaysia and the United States.
A fragile ceasefire was previously agreed upon after five days of clashes in late July, but the violence resumed.
