Govt Introduces Bill to Raise Supreme Court Judges' Strength
The government introduced a bill to increase the number of judges in the Supreme Court from 33 to 37.
This happened on the first day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, which started on July 22, 2026.
However, the session was disrupted by opposition protests over issues like the NEET-UG paper leak and alleged financial irregularities in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir donations.
Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned until 12:30 PM due to these disruptions.
The Monsoon Session will continue until August 13, 2026, and is expected to see more confrontations between the government and the opposition.
