CJP Warns Government Against Repeating Noida Workers Crackdown

Abhijeet Dipke, who leads the Cockroach Janta Party, criticized the government over the treatment of protesting workers and students.

He referred to workers in Noida who were arrested during a protest.

A report said almost 200 workers spent about 53 days in jail on average before getting bail.

The court said police had not shown enough specific evidence against most of them.

Two workers were also charged under a law that allows long detention.

Dipke said similar legal action could now be used against students.

The CJP says the government has not clearly explained how it will fulfill promises made during talks.

The Supreme Court has asked for a list of cases filed against students and protesters across India.
