Govt Clarifies Fake News on DA Hikes for Pensioners
There's been a fake message going around on WhatsApp saying that the government has stopped giving extra money to retired employees, like the Dearness Allowance (DA) hikes and Pay Commission benefits.
The message said this was because of a new law called the Finance Act 2025.
But the government said this isn't true.
They made a post on X (formerly Twitter) saying that the message is fake and that retired employees will still get their benefits.
The government also said that the new law doesn't change anything for retired employees.
The fake message even said that the new law goes against a old rule from the Supreme Court in 1982, which said that all retired employees should be treated equally.
But the government said this isn't true either.
So, retired employees don't need to worry, their benefits are safe.
A fake message on WhatsApp claimed that the Finance Act 2025 would withdraw DA hikes and Pay Commission benefits for retired government employees.
The message alleged that the new law would not apply to those who have already retired and would override a 1982 Supreme Court judgment.
The PIB issued a clarification, stating that the message is false and that there has been no change in post-retirement benefits.
The PIB termed the viral message as misleading and factually incorrect.
The government assured that retired employees will continue to receive their benefits as before.
