TCA Challenges HCA Automatic Selection Rules, Seeks Transparency
The Telangana Cricket Association is questioning a reported new selection rule by the Hyderabad Cricket Association.
The rule would automatically qualify some players for the 2026–27 senior league.
TCA says players should be chosen for their current form, fitness, performance and potential.
It worries that district players and athletes from open trials could be overlooked.
TCA also says administrators should not weaken the independence of selectors.
It wants to know how the Cricket Operations Committee and Ambati Rayudu would be involved.
The association has asked HCA to explain the legal basis and safeguards for the rule.
It also wants clear criteria and equal chances for all players.
The Telangana Cricket Association questioned the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s reported automatic selection mandate for the Men’s Senior Super League 2026–27.
TCA General Secretary Dharam Guruva Reddy said selections should consider current form, fitness, performance and potential.
TCA said automatic qualification could disadvantage district players and cricketers emerging through open trials.
The association warned that invalidating selection lists for non-compliance could weaken the Selection Committee’s independence.
TCA asked HCA to disclose the mandate’s legal basis, selection powers, criteria, conflict safeguards and equal-opportunity mechanisms.
