Supreme Court Penalizes ‘Luxury Litigation’ for Delaying Genuine Cases

The Supreme Court heard a case that had continued for 11 years.

The court said both sides had complained about being wronged.

However, the judges also said both sides had helped create much of the problem.

The case had taken time from the Bar Council of India, a high court and the Supreme Court.

The judges said that time could have helped people with more genuine legal needs.

They described the dispute as “luxury litigation.”

The court strongly criticized both parties.

It also ordered them to pay Rs 5 lakh in costs.
