India Plans Unified Customs Platform for Digitisation
The Indian government is planning to combine three different Customs systems into one big digital platform.
Right now, these systems don't work well together, which causes delays and extra paperwork.
The new system will make it easier and faster to import and export goods.
It will also make the process more automated and reduce the need for people to visit Customs offices in person.
The government expects to start this project soon and finish it by April 1, 2027.
This will be one of the biggest technology projects for Customs in India.
Union Finance Ministry plans to integrate ICEGATE, RMS, and ICES into a single unified national Customs platform.
Current systems operate on different software, causing delays and duplicate paperwork.
The new platform aims to reduce clearance time from 2 days to 24 hours.
Major global and Indian tech companies, along with startups, are expected to participate in the project.
The unified platform will enable faster, more automated clearances and reduce litigation from system mismatches.
