Ola Electric Denies Using Leaked LG Tech for Bharat Cell
Imagine a company called Ola Electric is making a new kind of battery for its electric vehicles, called the Bharat Cell.
Another company from Korea, LG Energy Solution, has a former employee who is being investigated for possibly giving secret battery-making information to Ola Electric.
This information is about an older type of battery called a pouch cell.
But Ola Electric says this is not true and their new Bharat Cell battery is completely different and better, using a special method with a round shape instead of a flat one.
They believe that because their new battery is so good and entering the market, other companies are trying to make them look bad.
Ola Electric has lots of patents, which means they invented many things, and they have a big factory and smart people working on their batteries in India.
They are proud of their invention and want to show that India can create its own advanced technology.
Ola Electric denies allegations of using leaked proprietary pouch cell technology from LG Energy Solution, calling them baseless.
The company states its 4680 Bharat Cell uses advanced dry-electrode cylindrical cell technology, which is distinct from the older pouch cell format cited in reports.
Ola Electric suggests that foreign rivals, fearing market loss due to their indigenous innovation, are behind the allegations.
The company has filed 720 patents, with 124 granted, operates a Battery Innovation Centre with over 250 specialists, and has invested ₹2,500 crore in India's first operational Gigafactory for its Bharat Cell.
Ola Electric recently launched Ola Shakti, India's first residential battery energy storage system using the Bharat 4680 cell.

Allegations from South Korean News Outlet
A South Korean news outlet reported that a former LG Energy Solution researcher is under investigation for allegedly transferring proprietary pouch-type lithium-ion battery manufacturing technology to Ola Electric. This technology is classified as a 'national core tech' by the South Korean government.
Motivation for Allegations
Ola Electric's Stance
Ola Electric suggests that fears of losing market opportunities are driving foreign rivals to target their indigenous battery innovation. They believe a misleading narrative is being used to undermine India's emergence as a global player in advanced energy tech.
Allegations from South Korean News Outlet
The allegations come amid the 4680 Bharat Cell entering commercial production, which directly competes with Korean majors in the domestic market. LG Energy Solution is cooperating with a government investigation into a former researcher.
