IIT Kharagpur Withdraws Notice on Dining Hall Segregation
Imagine a school where students eat together.
Someone tried to make people who eat meat sit in a different area than people who don't.
The head of the school found out and said, "No way!"
He said that everyone should be able to sit where they want.
He ordered that the signs that told people where to sit were taken down.
The school thinks it is not right to tell people where to sit just because of what they eat.
So now, everyone can eat together, no matter their food choices.
IIT Kharagpur withdrew a notice regarding segregated seating in dining halls.
The segregation was based on students' vegetarian or non-vegetarian food preferences.
The notice was issued without the knowledge of higher authorities.
The Institute Director, Suman Chakraborty, ordered the notice to be scrapped.
The decision was made because the institute does not support segregation based on food choices.
