India Names 30-Member U20 Squad for Singapore Friendlies
India’s under‑20 football team is getting ready for a big tournament.
Coach Mahesh Gawali picked 30 players to play two practice games against Singapore in Bengaluru.
These games will help the team decide who plays where before the big qualifiers in Tashkent.
India will face Syria, Uzbekistan and Bangladesh in the qualifiers.
India has beaten Singapore twice before in U20 competitions, so they want to do well again.
India U20 coach Mahesh Gawali announced a 30‑player squad for two closed‑door friendlies against Singapore on Aug 3 and 6 in Bengaluru.
The matches will be used to fine‑tune line‑ups ahead of the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027 qualifiers in Tashkent.
The squad includes 4 goalkeepers, 12 defenders, 11 midfielders and 10 forwards selected from 102 trialists across India.
India is drawn in Group B of the qualifiers with Uzbekistan, Syria and Bangladesh, opening against Syria on Aug 31.
India previously beat Singapore twice in U20 competitions, including a 4‑1 win in 1966 and a 1974 penalty‑shootout victory.
