Japan Stock Market Closed Three Days, Reopens Thursday
Japan’s main stock market is taking a three-day holiday.
It is closed from Monday, September 21, through Wednesday, September 23.
Trading is expected to start again on Thursday, September 24.
The holidays are Respect for the Aged Day, a Citizens’ Holiday, and Autumnal Equinox Day.
The regular market for buying and selling shares is closed, but some futures trading continues.
Currency trading for USD/JPY and overseas markets also remains active.
Before the break, the Nikkei 225 index rose 1.38% to 65,018.95.
The rise was helped by a weaker yen and stronger semiconductor stocks.
