SPCA Sets Up Stray Dog Feeding Zones in Powai Society
In Mumbai, a society was having issues with stray dogs.
After the residents complained about not being able to feed the dogs, and with the managing committee not cooperating, the SPCA stepped in to help.
Following a Supreme Court order, they created temporary feeding spots.
The AWBI had previously told the society to form a committee to help the animals.
Despite efforts to get the residents and committee members involved in making a plan, they did not participate.
The SPCA is now working with residents and feeders to ensure the dogs are taken care of.
SPCA designated temporary feeding zones in a Powai society after resident complaints and committee non-participation.
The Supreme Court issued a revised order emphasizing designated feeding zones for stray animals.
The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) directed the formation of an animal welfare committee.
Residents and managing committee members were absent from the meeting despite multiple attempts to involve them.
Temporary feeding spots were created with the help of a complainant and local feeders, with the SPCA criticizing the society's conduct.
