Beed Treasury Officer Named Suspect in ₹73-Crore Land Scam

Beed Treasury Officer Named Suspect in ₹73-Crore Land Scam

Officials are investigating a large land-payment scam in Beed.

The case involves compensation money being made much higher than it should have been.

Investigators say Treasury Officer Lahu Galgunde signed or authorised transfers of the inflated money.

The money allegedly went to beneficiaries and middlemen.

Galgunde is now named as a suspect and police say he is missing.

Former Collector Avinash Pathak is also accused in the case.

Investigators say he issued 154 backdated and forged orders.

Courts have not granted Pathak relief, and handwriting experts reportedly linked signatures on the documents to him.
