Indian Stock Markets Open For Eid-e-Milad Settlement Holiday

Indian Stock Markets Open For Eid-e-Milad Settlement Holiday

The Indian stock market will be open on Wednesday, August 26, even though it is Eid-e-Milad.

People can buy and sell shares during normal equity trading hours.

However, the behind-the-scenes process that moves shares and money will take a holiday.

This process is called settlement.

Because of the pause, money from a sale may not be ready for withdrawal immediately.

The article says shares bought on August 25 or August 26 can be sold on August 27.

It also cites advice saying Tuesday purchases may not be sellable until Thursday, so investors should check the schedule.

Currency trading will be closed that day.

Commodity trading, including MCX’s morning and evening sessions, will continue.
