Why Actions Needn't Mirror Inner Posture in Pursuit of Peace

Why Actions Needn't Mirror Inner Posture in Pursuit of Peace

People can do the same job or helpful act for very different reasons.

One person may be thinking about praise, status, or being noticed.

Another person may simply focus on doing the task well and helping.

Both people can look the same to others.

Inside, however, they may feel very different.

The first person keeps checking what the action will bring them.

The second person tries hard but does not cling to the result.

The passage suggests that letting go of outcomes may help a person find inner peace.
