Odisha's Civil Services Coaching Fails to Deliver Results
The Odisha government started a program to help students prepare for civil service exams like IAS and IPS.
They partnered with a private institute to offer coaching at a lower cost.
However, only 31 students passed the exams in five years.
The government hoped to help students who couldn't afford expensive private coaching, but the program didn't work as well as expected.
None of the students who got government-sponsored coaching passed the exams.
The Chief Minister shared these results in the state assembly.
Odisha's civil service coaching program has a low success rate with only 31 students passing UPSC exams in five years.
The program was introduced in 2019 with a partnership with a private institute offering subsidized coaching.
Annual fees for the coaching were Rs 20,650, with eligibility for students whose parents earned less than Rs 2 lakh annually.
The number of successful candidates varied each year, with a peak of 8 in 2023.
None of the students who received government-sponsored coaching reportedly passed the All India Civil Service examination.
