Global Durga Puja Organisers Plan Expansion
Organisers of Durga Puja from all over the world came together in Kolkata to talk about making Durga Puja bigger and more popular.
They discussed ways to get more people involved, like asking companies to sponsor pujas and working together with pujas in other countries.
They also talked about how Durga Puja helps the economy and supports many people's livelihoods.
Some organisers shared their success stories, like the Times Square Durga Puja in the US, which had 50,000 visitors every day.
They also launched a new group called the Bengal Angel Network of Investors to help with funding and mentoring.
Everyone agreed that they need to do more to market Durga Puja and reach out to the world.
Organisers of 24 global and 10 local Durga Pujas met in Kolkata to discuss globalizing the festival.
Heritage Bengal Global (HBG) organized the event to strengthen cultural and business ties between Bengal and the global diaspora.
Participants highlighted the economic contribution of Durga Puja and the need for better marketing and corporate sponsorships.
Suggestions included corporate adoption of pujas, international collaborations, and a global Durga Puja in the UK.
