Sardar 2 Review: Karthi Anchors an Overstuffed, Uneven Sequel
Sardar 2 is a spy movie about a father and son trying to stop a dangerous weapon.
Karthi plays both the father, Sardar, and the son, Vijay Prakash.
The weapon, called Doku, could harm many people.
A villain named Black Dagger wants to get it.
The father and son must work together to protect others.
Reviewers thought Karthi was the best part of the movie.
They also liked some action scenes and the message about antibiotic resistance.
However, they felt the movie was too long and explained its ideas too many times.
They also said the story was predictable and did not create enough suspense.
Karthi plays dual roles as RAW agents Sardar Chandra Bose and Vijay Prakash in the 179-minute sequel.
The plot revolves around Doku, a bio-chemical weapon that could kill lakhs, and the effort to stop villain Black Dagger.
Reviewers praised Karthi’s contrasting performances and the father-son dynamic but found the screenplay overlong and predictable.
SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath and Rajisha Vijayan were seen as effective but underserved by their roles.
The film’s action and antibiotic-resistance message received some appreciation, while its CGI, music, pacing and logic drew criticism.

Strengths
Weaknesses
Karthi’s performance
Strengths
Karthi brings distinct gestures, voice modulation, authority and vulnerability to his two roles, making him the film’s strongest asset.
Weaknesses
The strength of the lead performance cannot compensate for the film’s weak writing and lack of danger.
Action and message
Strengths
Some action sequences are clearly shot and choreographed, while the antibiotic-resistance message is relevant and informative.
Weaknesses
The social message is delivered like a lengthy lecture, and patchy CGI and repetitive explanations weaken the impact.
Story and pacing
Strengths
The father-son relationship remains an effective emotional thread, and the larger international plot is ambitious.
Weaknesses
At 179 minutes, the sequel is overstuffed, predictable and at least 30 minutes too long, with convenient plot resolutions and little suspense.
