CARS24's Gurugram flood boat stunt draws Rs 50,000 fine

CARS24's Gurugram flood boat stunt draws Rs 50,000 fine

There is a city in India called Gurugram where heavy rain often fills the streets with water.

A car-selling company called CARS24 made a joke about the flooding by placing a bright blue boat on a waterlogged road.

The police did not think the joke was funny and took the boat away.

They also made the company pay a fine of Rs 50,000.

A woman who works for CARS24, Prachi Sharma, said the company will pay the fine.

But she asked a bigger question: why is nobody held responsible for the streets flooding every year?

She said residents sometimes need boats just to move around their own city.

The company even said it would bring the boat back to help people if the roads flood again, even if it means another fine.

Many people in Gurugram are now talking about whether the city should fix its flooded roads instead of just punishing the joke.
