Noida: 43 Societies Operate STPs Without Pollution Board Approval
Imagine buildings that treat their dirty water before putting it back into the environment.
In Noida, many apartment buildings aren't doing this correctly.
A check by the government showed that 43 buildings haven't gotten the proper permission slips to run their water-cleaning systems, called STPs.
This means they could be breaking the rules.
The government is fining some of these buildings.
It also seems like the officials aren't always talking to each other, making it harder to fix the problem.
The government is now making sure that new buildings have the proper permissions before people can live there, to keep the water clean and safe.
43 Noida group housing societies lack consent to operate (CTO) for sewage treatment plants (STPs).
The UPPCB found that 34 societies face prosecution, with environmental compensation of Rs 27 crore imposed on 30.
Lack of CTOs does not always mean non-functional STPs; some societies may never have installed them.
Many societies also lack Occupancy and Completion Certificates, suggesting procedural failures.
Noida Authority is monitoring societies; no new Occupancy Certificates (OC) are issued without STP verification.
