Centre to Address DA Arrears, 8th Pay Commission in Meeting
Imagine a meeting where the government and employee representatives discussed important things for government workers.
One big topic was the money that was held back from workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, called DA/DR.
The workers want this money back because they worked hard during that time.
However, the government said it's not possible to pay it back right now.
They also talked about starting a new group to decide how much money government workers should be paid in the future, and they discussed a new insurance plan for employees.
The workers are still hoping they'll get the money they are owed.
Meeting of the Standing Committee of the National Council (JCM) was held to discuss issues related to central government employees.
Staff side demanded the release of 18-month DA/DR arrears withheld during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Finance Ministry stated that payment of arrears is not possible due to the economic situation.
The 8th Central Pay Commission and its Terms of Reference were also discussed.
A new proposal regarding the Central Government Employees Group Insurance Scheme (CGEGIS) was presented.
