Tiger Habitats in Sundarbans to Merge, Boosting Conservation
Imagine the Sundarbans is like a big park where tigers live.
Right now, the park is split into two parts for managing the tigers.
Some smart people decided to combine these two parts into one big park, making it easier to protect the tigers.
This means the park will be bigger, have more money to spend on keeping the tigers safe, and be watched over more carefully.
This has been a plan for a while and everyone is happy because it helps the tigers.
The National Board for Wildlife approved the merger of tiger habitats in South 24-Parganas with the Sundarban Tiger Reserve (STR).
The merger will consolidate the tiger habitat under a unified administrative structure for efficient conservation.
The STR will expand to over 3,600 sqkm, including the Matla, Raidighi, and Ramganga ranges.
The proposal was in the works for a decade, cleared by NTCA and supported by forest officials.
Stricter monitoring and more funds are expected for conservation efforts following the merger.
