ED Files Chargesheet in AP Skills Case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a new chargesheet in a case involving the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and a project with Siemens.
The ED found that some people diverted government money, but they did not find any involvement of the Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu.
The project was supposed to set up centers for skill development, but some people allegedly took the money for themselves using fake invoices.
The ED has charged several people and companies, including the managing director of Designtech Systems Pvt.
Ltd.
and former officials of Siemens.
The court has accepted the chargesheet, and the ED says this is the last one unless new evidence comes up.
Some politicians say the case was closed because of political influence.
The Enforcement Directorate filed a fresh chargesheet in the APSSDC Siemens project case, finding no role of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in the laundering of proceeds of crime.
The case involves the diversion of government funds by certain accused, including Designtech Systems Pvt. Ltd. and its managing director Vikas Khanvelkar.
The total project cost was estimated at Rs 3,300 crore, with alleged losses of Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer.
The accused allegedly diverted funds through shell and defunct entities using bogus invoices, with the help of entry providers.
The Vijaywada court accepted a closure report filed by the state CID, closing the investigation against Naidu, and took cognizance of the fresh prosecution complaint filed by the ED.
