INDIA Bloc Pushes Unity and Broader Opposition Fight Against BJP

Opposition parties in India met in Delhi as part of the INDIA bloc.

Rahul Gandhi asked them to stay united even when they disagree in individual states.

He said the group should work together against the BJP-led government.

Mamata Banerjee suggested bringing more non-NDA parties and other groups into the effort.

Some leaders said the Election Commission and other institutions had been treated unfairly, although these were allegations made at the meeting.

The parties discussed protesting and taking legal action.

Kapil Sibal said removing the chief election commissioner through arrest would not work because of legal immunity.

Instead, he suggested challenging the relevant law in the Supreme Court.

The meeting did not formally take up a new impeachment motion against the chief election commissioner.
