RBI Decision May Strengthen SP Group’s Lender Negotiations

RBI Decision May Strengthen SP Group’s Lender Negotiations

The Shapoorji Pallonji Group owns a large part of Tata Sons.

That investment is very valuable, but it is difficult to sell because Tata Sons is not publicly traded.

India’s central bank rejected Tata Sons’ request to give up a special registration.

This makes a future stock-market listing seem possible again.

A listing could show everyone how much Tata Sons is worth.

That information might make banks and other lenders more willing to refinance the SP Group’s loans.

The group has a large amount of debt and must repay about Rs 3,500 crore by the end of September.

However, a listing is not certain or immediate, so the group’s money problems would not disappear right away.
