Air India Launches Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with Restrictions
Air India is starting to use its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner plane on February 1.
The plane will fly from Mumbai to Frankfurt.
Some parts of the plane, like the privacy doors in Business Class and 18 seats in Economy Class, won't work or be used right away.
The airline is waiting for approval from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to fix these issues.
The plane has 296 seats in total, with 30 in Business Class, 28 in Premium Economy, and 238 in Economy.
Other airlines have also faced similar problems with new planes.
Air India will launch its first custom-built Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on February 1 with operational restrictions.
The aircraft will serve the Mumbai-Frankfurt route and has a 296-seat layout.
Business Class privacy doors will remain fixed in the open position until FAA certification is secured.
18 specific Economy Class seats (RECARO 3710) will be blocked from use due to a regulatory interpretation issue.
Air India's fleet currently includes 188 aircraft, with 33 being Dreamliners.
