Karnataka Mandates Permits for Green Vehicles, Issues Free Passes
The government in Karnataka has changed the rules for electric, methanol, and ethanol vehicles.
Previously, these vehicles didn't need special permits, but now they do.
To make sure things keep running smoothly, the government will give out free passes.
This change also means that electric vehicles can now be officially registered for transport services, which wasn't always the case before.
This is to make sure that they can properly operate as transport vehicles.
Karnataka government withdraws permit exemption for electric, methanol, and ethanol vehicles.
The withdrawal is based on Section 66(1) of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Free passes will be issued to these vehicles to prevent transport disruption.
The order enables the registration of battery-operated vehicles as transport vehicles.
