India Backs ASEAN Energy Plan, Explores Regional Power Link

India welcomed a new ASEAN plan for working together on energy from 2026 to 2030.

India says it will cooperate on clean energy, electricity connections and energy security.

India and Singapore are looking at a possible link to send electricity between them.

One idea is a long route through Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia.

India also offered to share what it has learned about renewable energy, batteries and power grids.

India reported that 55 per cent of its installed electricity capacity came from non-fossil sources by September 30.

It also reported millions of rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar scheme.

India said it reached a non-fossil capacity milestone in June 2025, five years before its 2030 target.
