MCD Begins Nearly ₹70 Crore Student Aid Disbursal

MCD Begins Nearly ₹70 Crore Student Aid Disbursal

Delhi’s civic body plans to start sending school assistance payments this week.

The money is for uniforms and school bags.

Each student receiving the payment will get ₹1,370.

In the first phase, about 5.1 lakh students with available bank details are expected to be covered, with around ₹69.87 crore set aside.

MCD has identified 6,56,950 students as beneficiaries for the 2026–27 school year.

Officials say they are working to open accounts for children who lack them and to update inactive or outdated account details.

MCD will provide notebooks and other stationery through schools rather than send students ₹300 for those items.

Officials said the change was made because stationery payments had been delayed.
