Security Guards Protest Colleague's Detention at Kalyani Hospital
Security guards at Kalyani JNM Hospital are protesting because one of their colleagues was taken away by the police while he was working.
The guard, named Ranjit Singh, was checking IDs at the emergency gate when a woman intern tried to enter.
After checking her ID, he let her in, but then the police came and took him away.
The other guards are upset because they think the police did not have a good reason to take their colleague away.
They say he was just doing his job and following the rules.
The guards are protesting until their colleague is released.
Security guards at Kalyani JNM Hospital launched an indefinite protest on Monday.
The protest follows the alleged detention of a colleague, Ranjit Singh, while on duty at the emergency department.
Singh was detained after asking a woman intern to produce her identity card before entering the hospital.
Protesters claim Singh was merely following standard security protocols and was not under the influence of alcohol.
The guards accuse the police of acting arbitrarily and vow to continue the protest until Singh is released.
