Bihar NDA ally faces resignations over son's cabinet induction
Upendra Kushwaha, the leader of a political party in Bihar, India, decided to make his son a minister in the state's government.
This decision upset many other leaders in his party, who felt that it was unfair and that the son did not have enough experience.
Seven important leaders, including the party's state president and spokesperson, resigned in protest.
They said that Kushwaha did not discuss his decision with them and that he should have given more importance to the party's elected members.
Kushwaha defended his decision by saying that it was necessary to keep his small party strong and to prevent it from falling apart like his previous party did.
He also mentioned that he had to deal with the defection of elected leaders in the past, which left the party with no money and no members.
Seven key leaders of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) resigned in protest against the induction of Upendra Kushwaha's son, Deepak Prakash, into the Bihar cabinet.
The leaders accused Kushwaha of nepotism and sidelining the party's four newly elected MLAs.
Deepak Prakash, who is not a member of the Bihar legislature, was sworn in as a minister, raising eyebrows among party members.
Kushwaha defended his decision, stating that it was necessary to preserve the party's existence and future.
The resigning leaders, including the party's state president and spokesperson, expressed their discomfort with recent political and organizational decisions.
