Form 16 Isn't Enough for Filing ITR: What's Missing?
Form 16 is a summary of your salary and taxes from your employer.
It's a good starting point for filing your taxes, but it's not the whole story!
You may have other income, like interest from a bank or money from freelancing, that Form 16 doesn't show.
Also, any money you made from selling stocks, crypto, or property won't be in Form 16.
You also have to consider any rental income you may be receiving.
You must use other documents to make sure you pay the right amount of tax.
Form 16 summarizes salaried income, but is insufficient for filing ITR.
Form 16 omits income from interest, freelancing, lottery winnings, and other sources.
Capital gains from stocks, crypto, property, and mutual funds are not included in Form 16.
Rental income from property and deductions for health insurance are not in Form 16.
Taxpayers must reconcile Form 16 with AIS/Form 26AS to ensure all income is reported.
