Trump-Xi Summit Tackles Taiwan, Trade, AI and Iran

Donald Trump and Xi Jinping met to discuss difficult issues between their countries.

They wanted to keep competition from turning into a larger conflict.

Taiwan was a major disagreement because China says Taiwan is part of its territory.

China also objects to American weapons sales to Taiwan.

Xi used the phrase “Thucydides Trap” to warn that competition between a rising country and a powerful country can lead to war.

The leaders also talked about making artificial intelligence safe and keeping it under human control.

Xi supported renewed talks between the United States and Iran.

He also invited 100,000 young Americans to visit China for study and cultural exchanges over the next five years.
